I have interest in many things from photography to wakeboarding. And I plan to use this blog to document all my thoughts in all the hobbies and random things that perk my interest.. Even though I would like this blog to be about everything and nothing, I will do my best to keep it organized.

I Love This Shoreline

Like many of you ticket holders, I received an alerting email from Ticket Masters stating that there are some changes to I Love This City. The news was shocking to me that I had to read the email twice to believe what I was reading. For those of you that have not purchased a ticket and are waiting for the right opportunity to purchase a ticket, You can click here to read the venue change. Below are the key changes:

  • ILTC venue will be moving from the At&t Lot to the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mt. View
  • The age limit to the event has been lowered from 18 to 16
  • The event has been extended from 11:00 to 11:30
  • Tickets that are available are for Lawn tickets

Some of you may be ecstatic that the venue is moving to a larger and more suitable location, while there are some that may be upset by the whole turn of events. I, myself, am upset.

Yes, the Shoreline has 3 stages that each will be expelling a plethora amount of energy and music. However now I have almost an hour commute that I have to account for to attend this event. My original plan was to get off work, catch the 22 to the Church station and take the T to the Park. Now after work I have to get to the park and then catch the shuttle to the Shoreline or find someone who I can carpool with. With the commute I will be missing 2 – 3 hours of the event. Then I have to head home either on the shuttle or with some friends.

With the age limit being lowered to 16, ILTC will be like going to an 18 and over club such as City Nights. That’s all that I am going to say about the age limit being lowered.

11:00 to 11:30. An extra half an hour. Wow. Really? Is that all that Live Nation is going to give us for their poor event planning skills? If I’m going to be out of the City having fun, I might as well do it right and stay out the whole night. Extend ILTC till midnight or 1 am! That would be great.

If you haven’t noticed, I’m really bitter about the change of venue. I’m sure that folks in the South Bay, East Bay, and Peninsula are stoked that they don’t have to drive into the City. I just moved into the city from Walnut Creek and was excited to go to my first SF event as a San Franciscan. Whoever was in charge of the logistics of the event should be fired. I emailed Ticket Masters to please explain why the venue has been change and hope to hear back from them soon. I should email Live Nation as well.

San Francisco already has so much events that take place in the city that I believe that ILTC could had still added much-needed revenue for the city and reaffirm that San Francisco is the go to destination for events in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As bitter as I am about the venue change, I will still be attending ILTC. When I get there I will enjoying myself to the fullest and not have negative vibes from the change of venue.

Obama 2012 Campaign

As many of you know, or I hope that you know, that this year’s General Election is the Presidential Election and we will be electing who will be in the White House this coming January. Like many Presidential Election, this is the time that most people go out and vote while the rest of the time we let the absentee ballot sit in the junk mail pile or we find an excuse why we don’t have time to vote.

I’ll be honest, there were a few times that I didn’t take the time to vote because it was an inconvenient for me. That last statement is probably not the best thing for me to admit, but it happens. There’s so much going in our personal life that we (chose to) forget that it’s election time and don’t have the time to go out and vote. Work, school, relationships, polling locations, unaware about certain details of propositions, etc. are reasons that some of us make up not to vote.

Now that I am finished with college and have grown more mature, I have a better understanding on the importance of voting. Well I’ve always knew that voting was important but this time I actually care about what happens on my street, in my community, city, county, state, and nation that I am making a commitment to vote every time the opportunity comes up. To vote is not just my right but a privilege that many people do not have, not just in the US but in many parts of the world.

To mark this year as a year of change and growth for me, I am continuing the growth process by being active with Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign. The way that I am being active with the campaign is by volunteering my time with the local Obama campaign party in San Francisco. Thursday was the first time that I was part of a campaign to help someone into office. It was great meeting other volunteers, like myself, that are passionate in getting Obama reelected into office.

Today I did some cold calls telling folks that their past support for Obama is greatly appreciated and asked them if they are still in support of Obama. If they were in support of Obama, I would also ask if they would like to volunteer their time to help make sure that Obama stays in office. Asides from cold calling, I also did some simple data entry.

Over all it was a great experience and I am glad that I took the time to volunteer to be involved with the Obama reelection campaign. I look forward to next week’s volunteer event with the great folks that I met and fire people up to hit the polling stations in June and November.

I Love This City!

I saw this advert on a MUNI street car while waiting for the 22 on Church and Market for I Love This City (ILTC) and I got excited all about it that I had to take the above picture with my HTC EVO. I have liked electronic dance music (EDM) for several years but only started going out of my way to see certain dj’s perform at places like Ruby Skye and Vessel because of my girlfriend, @VVH1T, which is a great positive thing that we both enjoy.

This past Monday ILTC released their Phase 2 line up which is sick! If you haven’t seen it, here it is for Friday and Saturday. I look forward to seeing folks such as Madeon, Tiesto, The Crystal Method, Steve Aoki, David Guetta, and many more! Madeon, wow! That kid is sick and one of THE people who I really want to see at ILTC. The sucky part about ILTC is that I already know that I wont be getting the days off since it Memorial Day weekend so I plan on going both days after work and trying to see as many folks that I can.

However if worst comes to worst, ILTC one day pass goes on sale today May 4th at 10AM PST. ILTC is a great event and even better warm up event to the upcoming Electric Daisy Carnival this June!

Back to the subject. ILTC! I’m super stoked for this event, the crowds, the energy, and the fun that I’ll be having with my friends and @VVH1T. Follow @ILTCFestival for more info.

For those of you going, I’ll see you all there!!

Lucky Pick 13: Michael Floyd

Michael Floyd
Pick 13 of the 2012 NFL Draft: Michael Floyd

“With the 13th pick in the 2012 NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals select Michael Floyd, Wide Receiver, Notre Dame” – Rodger Goodell.

I am shocked that the Arizona Cardinals were able to pick up Michael Floyd (Pick 13) in this years NFL Draft. What an amazing pick up and great addition to the team! I thought that Arizona was going to end up with Melvin Ingram (Pick 18) to help with the defense. Or that Arizona would had bolstered up their O-Line with a pick up of Riley Reiff (Pick 23) or David DeCastro (Pick 24). But instead Arizona took the advice of Larry Fitzgerald and picked up a weapon, Floyd.

With Floyd, both he and Fitzgerald will be able to stretch the field and at least help take some attention away from Fitzgerald. Floyd will also free up defenders from Early Doucet (669.8 yds, 5 TD), allowing him to make big time plays. As for Andre Roberts, his future is unknown. Arizona may have as many as 5 receivers on their team or they may trade Roberts for a low draft next year or for a veteran tackle/guard that is past their prime.

I am so stoked that Floyd will be a part of the Arizona organization. Arizona had a lot of close games that they just couldn’t close out last season. They also have a decent  list of opponents for this year. I am predicting, with great possibility, that Arizona will be making it into the post season and their chances for the Super Bowl looks probable.

Watch out Niners, the Cardinals are back to take the NFC West Title!

Remaining Picks: 3-80, 4-112, 5-151, 6-177, 6-185, 7-221

Pinterest

I have had a Pinterest account for a while and only recently I actually started using it. The reason why I did not start using Pinterest when I first had it because I do not like the idea of resharing content. That is why I do not have a Tumblr account and why I chose a WordPress as my soapbox for my blog. With Pinterest I was worried about over spamming my Twitter List or friends.

However now that I am using it, I am starting to enjoy it and understanding the product more. Pinterest is a good way to share your own images but at the same time to share stuff that you yourself are into or intrigues you. There are sites that I go to that friends of mine may not go and with Pinterest I have the ability to share it with them. Pinterest is like StumbleUpon meets Evernote.

Even though I am on the late freight, I am glad that I gave Pinterest a chance. Now time to go and do some pinning!

Happy Earthday!!

It’s sad that there is a dedicated day for Mother Earth when everyday should be Earthday and people should do everything in their power to minimize their carbon footprint on this planet. But what do I know since the world revolves around me cause it’s all about me.

Interior Design and Social Media

Since after getting out of middle management from Element Case I have rekindled my passion for interior design with my new position at FLOR. With this new rekindled passion I started exploring the social media world for interior design groups. Well, this is what I’ve found:

  • Google+ doesn’t have a large active Interior Design group/page. Pretty disappointing with G+ being so strong and the next big social media next to Facebook and Twitter.
  • Facebook has several groups and associations however most people I know on Facebook use it for leisure and not for a networking professionally. But it’s good to know that organizations such as ASID and IIDA have a presence on Facebook even though there is not a lot of activity.
  • LinkedIn surprisingly have a lot of active Interior Designers posting and commenting on many Interior Design groups. Then again LinkedIn is a place for professionals to come and share their resume and experience.
  • Pinterest is a great place for Interior Designers to spread their work since it is such an easy tool to share images. The UI is even so simple to use!

So it seems that LinkedIn and Pinterest are where all the Interior Designers are hanging out at. It only makes sense since we are visual professionals that like to share our work with the world. As for forums and blogs, there are so many out there that you just have to find that certain niche that you are into to follow and be part of that community. Wished that there was better advice that I could give but it is what it is.

Easter Shoot

Happy Belated Easter to all 🙂

This past Easter Sunday I went out with some of my siblings and went on a photo shoot with then. The plan was to take pictures of them ridings on their motorcycles on a curved road.

The original plan was to head over to Mines where there would be a lot of curved roads that we could take pictures. However I got out of church late so we decided to go to Calaveras Road instead since it was a 20 minutes commute versus a 45 minutes commute.

After finding a nice place to pull over we ended up by a horse shoe part of the road that was ideal for shooting.

Here are some of the shots from the day. I still need to go through the roll and do a quick touch up to them. All I did for these photos were a quick adjustments of the curves and burned the edges to give the photos a somewhat vignette look.

My Opinion on Hunger Games Adventure and FB

A couple days ago Funtactix  released the open beta for The Hunger Games Adventure on Facebook. I found out about the open beta from MTV’s Hollywood Crush blog. My initial reaction upon hearing the news was ecstatic. However after playing the game for a few hours the Hunger Games Adventure is like any other game on FB; Castleville, Mob Wars, Infinite Realms, Cafe World, etc. All you do in the game is grind, gather materials, listen to orders, and repeat. Yes the scenery changes from game to game but grinding is work. I just find it odd for people to check out of work in the real world just to put in “work” in the social media reality. Yes, I’ve played WoW, DC Universe, Battle Field 3, and other MMO’s but those games are more about working with other people to complete a task..

Damn. I don’t think I’m making a good argument.

But what I am trying to say is that I am disappointed with the game due to its redundant task however I do like the fact that you get to somewhat experience what it is like to be in District 12, especially since I’m a huge fan of the story. I’m such a huge fan of the story that I’ve made a Twitter account just to role play with other Hunger Games fans (@D12_Haymitch) Now only if the game could had been ground breaking like the story, then the game would had been amazing. Instead the game is another cookie cutter template on the FB gaming platform.

Maybe you all can help understand why do we play games that require us to work when we don’t enjoy working in real life? Is the web a better place for us? Are we truly robots that enjoy doing mundane tasks?

KV Party!

Image

I was playing one of my last couple games of the night on World of Tanks and in this round there were a ton of Russians KV’s. On my side we had 5 KV’s while the opposition had 3. I felt left out since I left my KV in the garage and didn’t bring it to the party.Instead I was stuck in my slow moving French AMX 40.

Damn folks, next time send me a memo!

Thanks.

BTW if you folks were wondering about the outcome I got 1 kill, got killed, but we won 🙂
