Happy Daylight Savings!

With the eve of Day Light Savings here, I’m looking forward and planning on maximizing all the daylight that I can by getting up early to exercise, capture some pictures, and catch more sunsets.

I can finally wake up early since I’ll be waking up at my ‘regular time’ and run on the beach on a more consistent basis. With me not being a morning person, getting up early to run outside in the cold before the sun gets up, was a challenge. There were many days I would wake up with my alarm blaring in my ear but once I reach to hit the snooze, I could tell how cold the outside world was; so I’d quickly jump out of the covers, dash to the heater and turn it on, then dash back and jump into bed. I would lay in bed curled up as a log all nice and toasty wide awake but afraid of the cold, so I would start planning out my day in my head, check Facebook and Twitter on my phone, and kick myself for not turning on the morning news. An hour or two goes by in a flash then I would start cursing myself and mentally pumping myself up to get out of bed. Thirty minutes goes by before I can finally peel myself off the bed but once out of the bed I am moving. Get the espresso brewing, iron my clothes, make myself breakfast and lunch, scarf down my food, brush my teeth, kiss my girlfriend good morning/bye, and I’d by out the door flying down stairs, already running ten minutes late to work.

NO MORE!

Thank you to ‘Merica and all those farmers that needs the extra time for farming, I will no longer be a victim to the clock and get up out of bed early!… Well that’s the idea.

Anyway, here’s a short clip of a time lapse I captured yesterday as the sun was setting, just playing around and testing things out. I get off at five most of the day, that should be an ample amount of time for me to shoot down to Slacker Hill as the sunsets for a nice long time lapse video. Will definitely need to purchase the app, Lapse It, so that I can render videos at 1080p.

Cheers!

Vlog Post 004: Last Minute Sunset Time Lapse

In the past month the marine layer has  had San Francisco under a blanket of fog. However on Tuesday the City had a reprieve from the fog that created the most beautiful summer day that San Francisco has had all year.

With no fog or cloud insight, I took the opportunity to capture a time lapse of sunset. Sadly the sun had begun its descent into the Pacific by the time I arrived at Ocean Beach, leaving about an hour of sunlight left.

Happy Easter

People say that God works in mysterious ways.  This Easter weekend, God was working one of his mysteries by bringing us rain. But even with the rain and the gray skies, God was telling us Happy Easter

Progress on the Bay Bridge

A Work in Progress

I’ll be going out to Yerba Buena Island today after work to take some photos of the Bay Bridge. I’ve been wanting to take pictures of both the San Francisco span and Oakland span of the Bay Bridge ever since I posted pictures of the bridge on this blog. Joe Ercoli, Tom Finale, James Perez, Paul Giani, Jorman Koon, and I will be making the trek around the island. This time I’ll be taking my GoPro HERO2 and a POS Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS since I no longer have my Canon Rebel XSi.

With the GoPro, I’m going to attempt to do a time lapse of the sun setting in the west with the San Francisco Bay Bridge span in the foreground. I haven’t had the chance to pick up the LCD Back for the GoPro so I’ll be shooting blind, technically. I’ve played around with the GoPro enough that I have an idea of what I’ll be capturing.

Once the sun set, we’ll be heading to the east end of the island to take shots of the Oakland span that has both the  new Bay Bridge and current Bay Bridge section. There has been a lot of progress done to the new span of the bridge  since the last time that I was there on Yerba Buena Island. The bridge now have cables hanging down from the main cable.

Th new Bay Bridge; its Tower and Cables

The photo above was taken from an ACTransit bus as I was heading to the East Bay. So as you can tell from the Google Map photo from the very top of this post, that when compared to the Instagram photo above, there has been a ton of progress on the new span.

I plan on shooting the Oakland span with the POS Canon. I’m worried about the quality of photos that I’ll get. I hope that it wont be a waste of time trying to shoot with the POS. Actually, I know it wont be a true waste of time since I’ll be seeing friends that I haven’t seen in few months.  I do know that the POS is not a DSLR and that the quality will not be as good.

We are just have to stay tuned to see how everything turned out. So stay tuned. Maybe if time permits I’ll post something from tonight’s photo adventure later early tomorrow morning.

Sunshine on BART

Took this shot of the BART train on the West Oakland outbound platform early July. While waiting for my transfer, I took advantage if the setting sun with the incoming train. The end result is this Instagram photo of BART that has movement.
